How Board and Train Can Help Dogs with Separation Anxiety
One of the most common questions we receive is whether Board & Train is a good option for dogs with separation anxiety. In fact, Board and Train may be the best option for anxious dogs. Not only does our Board & Train program provide your dog with exercise, mental stimulation, and a consistent routine, but they will also be surrounded by other dogs in training, all of which can help soothe separation anxiety.
Sometimes, anxiety in dogs is the result of not being properly trained, so learning basic obedience in a safe and comfortable environment may help ease separation anxiety by giving them more confidence and understanding of who is in control.
Another reason our Board & Train option is great for dogs with separation anxiety is that they learn to be comfortable being alone. After a training session, when they are tired out, we put them away in their own air-conditioned indoor run. Being tired helps take the edge off of dogs who may be feeling anxious about being separated from their owners. Positive Reinforcement is the Foundation of Our Board and Train Program
Rob’s Dogs Board & Train is a cruelty-free professional dog training program. Some dog trainers employ the “yank and crank” method, as they believe only in punishing dogs until they learn to avoid the corrections. Unfortunately, this method is as ineffective as it is cruel; dogs never develop a bond with their trainer and don’t actually learn what is being asked of them before being punished for not doing it. This method should be avoided at all costs.
Our master dog trainers do things differently. We take the time to teach your dogs the commands with rewards and positive reinforcement. Then, after they understand the command and what is expected, we will only correct them for breaking the rules they know. We start out at the lowest level of correction with a training collar, and as they continue breaking the rules, the corrections slowly get firmer, but never anything that is even slightly cruel or inappropriate. We also reward dogs for being obedient so they learn that being good has its benefits.

How Much Does Board & Train Cost?
It depends on your dog’s needs and your desired level of training. During your dog’s in person evaluation, one of our trainers will provide you with an expected time frame depending on your goals and how much work your dog needs.
